1. Background

The original ODMA core materials consist of

There are also two supplementary specifications for related activities:

  1. a proposal for integration in workflow management
  2. a proposal for working with ODMA documents on the web.

All of these materials have been preserved in their originally-distributed forms in the download section of the ODMA Interoperability Exchange.

{tbd - this body material needs to be replaced by something aligned with the intended effort}

2007-10-28-17:29 Split Identification from Capture of Original Material
The original-material packages should be intact, using the files as they were originally distributed.  We will reflect all of that here, along with location of the material in appropriate caches.  Organized Identification can come as a subsequent step.  That is the material that should go to SourceForge in various forms.

2007-10-28-17:21 Identification of Existing Materials
The existing materials that comprise the core are currently preserved in the download section of the ODMA Interoperability Exchange site.  That material needs to be preserved under an improved organization, with appropriate licensing statements and any supplemental information.  This is not systematic.  My thinking is to clean this up in small pieces.
   The smallest pieces are the ones that it is worthwhile to preserve on the ActiveODMA section of SourceForge and anywhere else there are files for downloading and source trees to be built up.
   I don't think we want the original files on SourceForge.  It seems more appropriate to have versions that have manifests and license statements for the packaging and tied from the individual files.
   I can see identification as separate from open-source packaging.  But some how that is part of identification, especially since it provides the provenance for the material in a way that anyone could check it.
